Chronological Capture
I keep a journal that I write in irregularly; usually a couple of times per week, but sometimes I’ll go weeks without writing in it and sometimes I’ll jot down thoughts every day, or several times a day.
This habit of journaling is useful for the act itself, allowing me to take partially solid but not-quite-there thoughts and extract them from my brain, helping me assess them in a more manageable and tactile configuration.
But it also gives me something to reference later when I want to remind myself of when something happened, check in on how well I kept up with a habit I wanted to develop, or to simply note evolutions and changes in myself, my goals, and my lifestyle.
