Quick Notes
Seattle: As I mentioned last week, I’m traveling back to Milwaukee from Seattle today, after visiting with family and helping out with my baby nephew for a spell. So this is an abbreviated newsletter—mostly just some links to interesting things.
My New App: The writing app I introduced last week has been updated so that it works on far more versions of MacOS (13.0 and above) and with a few other nice quality-of-life improvements (including Mandala Mode, which doesn’t let you save what you wrote when it’s activated). Would love to hear what you think if you try it out (it’s free).
New Work:
This week’s Let’s Know Things is about Chinese Emissions
Yesterday’s Brain Lenses essay was about Surveillance and Brain Function & the pod was on LLM Writing
Links to Interesting Things
From Princely Regalia to Women’s Underwear: The Evolution of the Color Pink
An Advance in Brain Research That Was Once Considered Impossible
‘I Am Not Who You Think I Am’: How a Deep-Cover KGB Spy Recruited His Own Son
What Else
I should be back to my normal newsletter format next week! It’s been fun spending time with the family, but it’ll be nice to get back into a more regular (and less child-maintaining) work and lifestyle rhythm. I’m exhausted! Anyone who raises or otherwise cares for kids is a superhero and a saint.
